The first place we stopped at was Renmark. Great little town! We walked along the river front and around the main streets. We decided it was time for lunch by this stage and made a plan to have a picnic at a table and park bench near the river. The sun was shinning and a house boat even went by playing the loudest Charley Pride music I have ever heard! Quite funny really, it reminded me of my Nan! It was nice though & the kids had fun feeding ducks too!
We found an old plough along the river walk that we took!
Picnic in the sun at Renmark SA.
After lunch it was time to keep moving on. We travelled through the town of Berri and Barmera. At Barmera we stopped so that the kids could have a play at the park down near Lake Bonny. It was a rather pretty spot.
Then we were on for some more driving. We were told about the Overland Corner Hotel that Nannie & Papa had visited, so we made our way there. Of course it's shut on Monday's so we didn't get to have much of a look. There was a man there though who told us about the free camping that you could do down by the river, which was about 700 meters away from the Hotel. It was getting on in the afternoon and after checking out the spot we decided that we would stay. Nothing like 'free camping' with an electrician though, Trent managed to tap into some power and we were set! So it wasn't exactly free camping after all! We stayed really warm, used the microwave, had TV for a little while until the service stopped for unknown reasons and it was a really great night! Kids had fun entertaining themselves by the river. Watching the Pelicans pass by and the colours in the sky change as the day drew closer to an end.
Just hanging out with Dad! Dad planning where to next with the Map.
A selfie by the river!
Pheobe, Maurice & Felicity enjoying their time along the river!
Some of the pretty sky colours we saw.
A Pelican cruising along the river, one of many that we saw.
The view we woke to in the morning.
So the next morning was a bit of a cold start, but we got by, especially having a little fan heater to get things going! Gotta love the electrician on this trip!!!
We headed up to the Pub once we had showered, done breakky and packed up. It was only around 9.30am by this time, so we had a look around the outside and by then it was 10am. The Pub didn't open until 10.30am so we decided that we would make a move and 'keep truckin' as we like to say! It was a pretty good drive until we made it to our destination of Burra. We, after having a quick look around, some lunch at the Bakery and a visit to the information centre decided that we needed to stay the night and check the place out further!
The next few pics are what we took from the outside of the Overland Corner Hotel. Its a pretty good place by all accounts, it was a shame we didn't have the time to stay for lunch, but we were at least able to stay near by and enjoy ourselves that way!
