Our drive across the SA & NT border.

So yesterday was a MASSIVE day of driving for us all. We drove about 650km's and it took us about 9 and a half hours! Kids were fantastic!! Could not complain at all about the way they travelled. We drove from Coober Pedy to Curtin Springs Homestead. We had a few stops along the way, first being a stop at Coober Pedy to fill our water tanks up in the van. I think I may have mentioned that we had to pay for good water in Coober Pedy & this is what we did. It is actually great tasting water too!

So after this we were on our way! Its a bloody long drive with not much in between to look at. We did come across a few cows, emu's, sheep & eagles.
I took these next couple of shots not too far out of Coober Pedy, working Opal mines.

After a while it was time to stop for lunch, we did this at a roadhouse along with getting our massive $ 's worth of fuel! And after listening to John Williamson, the Eagles and a some Justine Clark, and for those that could, have a little sleep, we had made it to the border!

A really lovely man came over & took this photo for us! So nice to be on holidays as a whole family!!!

Then, this was the first pic we took going over the border line:

We could only dream about ever driving that fast with our car & caravan in tow!

We had another fuel stop at Kulgera & found these interestinf items! Trent even brought a stubbie holder from here.

Trent & I didn't have anyone to take a pic with our heads in this one, so you will all just have to use your imaginations!

Oh, & this is how much we paid for fuel here:

And a little further on up the road we got to make the turn onto the road that would lead us to our destination. We came across a mountain that at first we thought was Ayres Rock, but on closer inspection & a quick check of our map we were quick to realise that it wasn't! It was Mt Conner instead! Still, very amazing to look at!

Then onto our final destination for the night, Curtin Springs Homestead! They have a great free camping area. They also have 8 powered sites (we didn't use this though), some budget accom, a restaurant, some bird averys to check out too. And we also saw an Emu up close with all 3 of the kids running to the car for cover!! Rather funny really!

So, once we had a look around we made our Steak, Snags and Veg for dinner, gave all 3 kids a wash down via the sink & ourselves, we were tucked in for the night!

And this ends our post about the day we crossed the SA & NT border line.
