Lake Argyle

OMG! This is just one of the most amazing places that EVERYONE should come & visit! Let me just start from the start & I hope by the end, you are all going to book in your visit. Rach, I got a great photo or two, this one is for you!

Morning came at Timber Creek & all 3 kids had a sleep-in, very unusual! It took Trent to get up & make noise before they woke. Trent then cooked us breakfast - Eggs, Bacon, Mushrooms, Tomato & Toast! After all that & washing up & packing up we were on our way! Headed for Kununurra!
There were soon some great views to be had & also somw strange trees we had never seen before. Phe named them Carrott Trees because of their thickness at the top & then narrow at the bottom. We found out later on they are called  Boab Trees & are only found from Timber Creek up to near where we are in the Kimberley's.

We finally reached the border & had to enter via quarantine. We still had a few apples to give up, but they took our honey too!!

We were on our way again & it was about 20-30kms over the border & Ord River Dam/Lake Argyle turn off. We thought we would go & check it out & maybe have some lunch there. As it turns out there is a resort/caravan park there & we booked in for 2 nights! We then booked in a sunset cruise for Sat night & a flight for the Sunday night which leaves from Kununurra.
After that we went & checked out the facilities at the park. BEST POOL with the BEST VIEW EVER!!! Check it out!

There will be more on this a little bit later! Maurice also caught up with another little kinder friend, Evie. Evie is travelling up this way for 4 weeks with her family. We had no idea that she was going to be here so it was just luck that we ran into her! It was so lovely for them to see each other & for all the kids to have a couple of days playing together!

We took a short drive & went to the lookout, to the boat ramp & to the dam wall. Here are a couple of pics we took from that.

We also went to the Argyle Downs Homestead/Museum. This was rebuilt & put on higher ground after it flooded many years ago. It was owned by the Durak family who were one of the first cattle station owners in the area. There is so much history here & so many  wonderful stories to read here.

After this we were back to the amazing pool for a swim! After this we cooked up some lamb cutlets for dinner with some vegies that we had frozen from the night before. The kids & Evie then watched a movie together & then it was bed time. It felt very late as by coming into WA the time had changed back another hour and a half. We are now 2 hours behind home!

This is Maurice & Pheobe hugging each other while taking in the view!

I am going to leave this part of the post here, too many pics make for long downloading, so there will be a part 2 to the post on Lake Argyle.
