Back to the van for some lunch & then we just had a bit of quiet time before we got ready to go on our cruise at 2.30pm.
The bus picked us up from the park & took us to the boat ramp. What an amazing tour of Lake Argyle we had. We were gone for about 4hours. Greg was our driver & he also owns the business - Lake Argyle Cruises. Greg was fantastic & full of knowledge about the dam & all is history to the present. He told us all about the dam wall that was built to create Lake Argyle, told us about its size. Its 21 times bigger in volume than Sydney Harbour! They even added the hydro power to supply all of Kununurra, Wyndham & the Argyle Diamond Mine. We saw lots of bird life & fresh water crocs. We fed fish, our favourites were the Archer fish because they spit up at you to try & get the food! As we were feeding the fish we saw a croc come up & take a fish & take it back to the bank to eat it!! Greg got a map out & showed us what area we had covered & shared some more history on what was down below, including what I have already mentioned about the Durak family & Argyle Downs Station.
Rock Wallaby!
We stopped for Sunset where we were all able to jump in for a swim. Trent, Pheobe & Felicity got in so I took a photo & then got in myself! Maurice decided after seeing all the crocs & fish that it was too much for a risk, so he stayed on the boat with a few others that didn't get in either. We were given champagne, beer, crackers & dip (the kids got a soft drink each) as we were swimming & watching the sun go down. It was fantastic & the water was quite warm too!
We went slowly back to the boat ramp so we could all take in the beautiful view & the amazing colours before it all went dark.
Back at the boat ramp we thanked Greg & caught the bus back to the caravan park/resort.
Showers all round & then we went over to the beer garden & shared dinner & drinks with Evie, Kristy & Joe. We also had entertainment with a guy singing & playing guitar. It was a lovely way to end what was a fabulous time at Lake Argyle.
